Using Game Lists

As you already know, Game Lists are how Rominator allows you to organize your games. In this section I will explain thoroughly how you can work with Game Lists. Above the game lists are three buttons: 2_3_0. The [+] button allows you to add in a new game list, and the [-] button will delete the selected game list. The third button is the ‘Refresh List’ button. When you click this, it will refresh the current games in your list, as well as add any missing ones (if you have a game folder set up for that list). Any games that were also added before database information was given to it, and now has a record in the DS database to be assigned to, will be updated as well.

In the ‘New Game List’ window below, I will outline the different parts below:

2_3_1

  • A - List Name: Here is where you define the name of your game list or flash card.
  • B - DS Game List: Click this icon to create a Game List, where you can organize and manage your collection. It is selected by default when creating a game list.
  • C - Flash Card List: Click this icon to create a Flash Card.
  • D - Flash Card Dropdown: If the Flash Card is clicked on, this popup menu will be changable, where you can select your flash card from a list supported by Rominator. The picture of the flash card above will change based on the selected card.
  • E - Games Location: Select the location for the game list or flash card. It is optional for a game list, but required for a flash card.

Why should I worry about Games Location? Well, the games location is used if you have all of your games in one central folder. There is an option in the settings that will copy all imported roms to that games list into that central folder (more in the ‘Changing Settings’ section). Also if you rip your games to the games folder, instead of adding them in manually through drag and drop, you can press the ‘Refresh’ button above the Game Lists and it will add any missing games from your game list.

When your game list is all set up, you can modify it’s name anytime by Double Clicking on it in the Game Lists.
