FAQs/Walkthroughs

Exclusively for use with the CycloDS Evolution, the FAQ/Walkthrough manager takes advantage of the CycloDS’s in-game text reader allows you to store multiple FAQs per game, and choose which one you want to flash. To get started, navigate to ‘FAQs/Walkthroughs’ under the Tools menu.

DISCLAIMER: This feature is provided with support only in relation to how it functions within Rominator, not on the CycloDS Evolution. The in-game text reader may not be completely stable at this time, so if your game crashes while using the in-game text reader, that will need to be taken up with the developers of the CycloDS Evolution firmware (Team Cyclops), as this is not a problem pertaining to Rominator’s usage. I am in no way affiliated with Team Cyclops so I cannot answer any technical related questions/issues that you may have with the CycloDS Evolution. Please do not email me with concerns regarding the functionality of the CycloDS Evolution.

  • A - Enable FAQs/Walkthroughs for CycloDS Evolution: Enable this for any FAQs marked for flashing to be transferred over upon flashing the corresponding game.
  • B - Game List: The list of games that you have FAQs for.
  • C - FAQ List: All available FAQs for the selected game.
  • D - New Game: Adds a new game to the Game List.
  • E - New FAQ: Adds a new FAQ for the selected game.
  • F - Delete Game/Delete FAQ: Will let you delete the game or FAQ, whichever one is selected.
  • G - FAQ: This is where your FAQ goes
  • H - Save: Saves the current FAQ that you are modifying.


How To Use

First, we will start by adding in a new game. When you press New Game, it may take a few seconds to bring up the game list (as the database has a lot of games in it). Select your game from the list and press OK. To quickly find a game you’re looking for, simply start typing the name of it.

After you’ve pressed OK, the game will be added into the list. Note that if the game you’ve selected has previously been added to any game list at any time, the icon for that game will show up in the list. If you’ve never loaded in the selected game before, the icon will show up as a generic [ DS ] Icon.
Select the game you’ve added to the list and press ‘New FAQ’. A new FAQ will be created and you will be allowed to set the name of it right from the get-go. Keep in mind that normal operating system naming conventions apply (so no illegal characters are allowed to be used and will be filtered out.)

You can give a name to your FAQ now or later, as you can modify the name of it at any time by double clicking on it. As you can see in the screenshot above, there is a quick blurb of text that explains to you that this is exactly what your FAQ will look like on the CycloDS Evolution. Once you’ve put the text in that you want to for your FAQ, do not forget to press the ‘Save’ button. If you leave, all of your data will be lost, so be sure to save!

*NOTE*: On Windows XP and Vista, the scroll bar will only show up when there is more text than the FAQ field can hold, so what the FAQ will look like if there is a small amount of text may slightly differ on the CycloDS Evolution. However, the FAQ will still be formatted properly when flashing so you have nothing to worry about! If the scroll bar appears when you have a lot of text, you’ve got nothing to worry about.

Once your FAQ is done and you have saved it, if you look in the FAQ list you will see a checkbox underneath the heading ‘Flash’. The FAQ that has this checkbox will be the one that is flashed when your game is copied over to your CycloDS Evolution.
Make sure that you check the ‘Enable FAQs/Walkthroughs for CycloDS Evolution’ checkbox in order to have your FAQs flash over, or else they won’t be processed!

When you flash a game with a FAQ associated with it, you will see ‘Processing FAQ’ in the flashing window.

This will format the FAQ for use on the CycloDS Evolution so you do not have to scroll left and right, but only up and down.
